April 25, 1985: The Kenya Football Federation is dissolved by the Minister for Culture and Social Services Mr. Stanley Matiba. The Minister whose portfolio includes sports also appointed a 12-man caretaker committee to run soccer throughout the country. All KFF officials right from the national chairman, Mr. Clement Gachanja, the secretary, Mr. Mahallon Danga, and the treasurer, Mr. Cornelius Mogaka, to provincial and district officials must vacate office immediately. The caretaker committee is to be chaired by Mr. Chris Mogere Obure, an Assistant Minister for Labour who is also the MP for Majoge–Bassi. Mr. Obure, a former international soccer player, came into national football administration in 1974 as secretary of the then Kenya National Football League under Mr. Matiba. He continued in that capacity when the KFF was formed a few months later, with Mr. Matiba still the chairman, remaining until 1978 when the Dan Owino group took over.
