April 21, 1989: A Nairobi weekly publication, The Financial Review is banned by the Minister of State in the President’s Office responsible for Internal Security Mr. Jackson Harvester Angaine (right). The ban announced through a legal notice and signed by Mr. Angaine did not specify whether the ban included past and current issues of the publication. “Asked to comment after magazine was proscribed the Editor Mr. Peter Kareithi said” It’s tragedy for Press freedom in Kenya.
