November 16, 1984: Nairobi Model Khadija Adam is crowned Miss Africa in London in a Worldwide television audience of 500 million people. She is the first Kenyan ever to win a major international beauty contest. The regional title was part of the Miss World contest, Khadija also became the first African for many years to get to the finals.
