October 21, 1988: Former MP for Nyandarua South, Kimani wa Nyoike,(centre) is jailed for 20 months for falling to report a plot to overthrow the Kenya Government. Nyoike told investigators that he had learnt that the chairman of the Tanzania’s ruling party Dr. Julius Nyerere, and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni supported the clandestine movement involved in the plot. Principal players in the plot, a Nairobi court heard were two former runaway MPs Koigi wa Wamwere and Andrew Klmani Ngumba who had given him (Nyoike) information about the Kenya Patriotic Front (KPF) when he visited Norway and Sweden last August.
