September 18, 2002: The National Alliance Party of Kenya (NAK) unveils its General Election line-up at Ufungamano House, Nairobi. Democratic Party chairman Mwai Kibaki is named presidential candidate, with Michael Kijana Wamalwa earmarked for Vice-President and Charity Ngilu for Prime Minister. After six hours of negotiations, the alliance leaders — Ngilu, Kibaki, and Wamalwa — acknowledge cheers from delegates.
