Description

The Khwisero Council of Elders, led by Mzee Namaan Ondeko (pictured shaking hands with the Senator), officially receives Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale at Roddy’s Hotel in Khwisero Sub-County. On Monday, May 15, 2017, the elders held a consultative meeting with the Senator, who was then the Ford Kenya gubernatorial candidate for the August 8 General Election. During the session, the council performed a traditional blessing ceremony, endorsing Khalwale’s bid to unseat the incumbent Governor. Mzee Ondeko praised the Senator’s track record in oversight and his defense of the sugar industry, stating that the community felt their interests would be better protected under his leadership. Khalwale, in turn, pledged to run an inclusive government that respects traditional leadership and prioritizes the economic revival of rural sub-counties like Khwisero through improved infrastructure and agricultural support. May 15, 2017.
