Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki came under fire from SRC and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli after his decision to indefinitely suspend 1,000 workers on his first day of office. He spoke on the matter on the 23rd of August 2017 and said that he would not bow under pressure to reverse his decision but rather seek a more constitutional way to deal with the workers whom he said were employed unprocedural, some without even going through the interviewing process.
