Spectre International MD Ruth Odinga during a press conference in Kisumu where she disclosed that her company closed down on last Friday followed by Agro-chemical and Food Company in Muhoroni on Monday due to shortage of molasses occasioned by lack of enough cane. She appealed to the government to regulate sale of molasses to safeguard the two ethanol producing industries from collapse because there are too many people competing for the little molasses at the local sugar companies since Kenya Sugar Board gave molasses allocation letters to farmers doubling the cost of the commodity per tonne.
