Description

Mwaniki recalls his experience during the State of Emergency when colonial soldiers surrounded his estate and arrested Kikuyu men. Held at Lang’ata detention camp, he received a “white” classification and spent two months supervising detainees on penal work. He returned to his home in Muguga at the start of 1953, facing a harsh life as a jobless and disabled man during the height of the conflict. December 23, 2025.
