Description

Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria attend a public function in Murang’a County. On Sunday, July 17, 2016, the two Jubilee legislators addressed residents regarding the ongoing bipartisan talks on electoral reforms. Kuria, who had just been appointed to the Joint Parliamentary Select Committee on IEBC, used the platform to issue a stern warning to the CORD coalition. He urged the opposition to negotiate in good faith and avoid making “unrealistic demands” that could jeopardize the progress made in the Safari Park Hotel sessions. Kuria emphasized that the Jubilee side was committed to a peaceful resolution but would not be bullied into constitutional shortcuts. Sabina Chege echoed his sentiments, calling for national stability and urging leaders to refrain from calling for street protests while the committee was still deliberating. The visit was part of a series of regional tours by Jubilee leaders to reassure their supporters of the party’s stance on the upcoming 2017 General Election and the fate of the IEBC commissioners.
