November 18, 1991: The Chairman of the Law Society of Kenya Mr. Paul Kibugi Muite is (waving) remanded in custody while Lawyer-Publisher Gitobu Imanyara is released on Sh. 100,000 bond. The two are among the seven arrested just before and during the abortive meeting at Nairobi’s Kamukunji grounds. The others are a former Vice-President Oginga Odinga, veteran politician Martin Shikuku, lawyers James Orengo and Japheth Shamalla and businessiman Philip Gachoka .Veteran trade unionist Dennis Akumu did not appear in court as he was reported to be ill.
