Histo1108

August 11, 1999: Mbita Member of Parliament Gerald Otieno Kajwang (right) is banned from practicing as an advocate for allegedly stealing from a client, Law Society of Kenya has announced. The LSK alleged that Mr Kajwang, an outspoken National Development Party MP, had failed to remit his client’s money, after obtaining it without his client’s instructions”. He had betrayed the confidence and trust of a client, and instead “behaved like a common conman,” the LSK’s disciplinary committee said. In this photo, Mr. Kajwang is seen with his client Peter Oloo Aringo (centre) and lawyer Evans Nyarong’i Monari in May 1992. Behind them is lawyer Keriako Tobiko.
