November 12 1981: Former Kitutu East MP George Moseti Anyona is released on a 50,000/= bond with two sureties of similar amounts each. Chief magistrate Fidahussein Abdullah granted the bond after Principal State Counsel Bernard Chunga said he has no instructions to oppose bail. He said the case investigation file had been placed before the Attorney-General for his consent to prosecute. Mr. Anyona is charged with possessing a seditions publication. But the consent had not so far been received Mr. Chunga told Mr. Abdullah adding that a hearing date had not yet been fixed. Mr. Chunga said the court had the discretion to grant bail. Defence counsel Mr. John Khaminwa. applying for bail, said Mr. Anyona had been in custody since October 22 and that the court had been told that the charge against him was a holding one.
