March 28, 1990: The PCEA priest said to have gone missing 12 days ago is charged in the Chief Magistrate’s court with sedition. The Reverend Lawford Ndege lmunde faced two charges of printing and being in possession of a seditious publication. . However, he was not required to plead as consent to prosecute was pending from the Attorney-General’s chambers. The priest was unrepresented. He wore a blue jungle jacket, cream shirt, brown trousers and black shoes. His hair, goatee and moustache were unkempt. In the first count, he was charged with having a seditious publication last March 19 without lawful excuse. The publication was a 1990 desk diary with the entry March 3, 1990″. In the second count, he was charged with printing a seditious publication a desk diary marked March 3, 1990 – between February and last March. After reading out the charges to the cleric, who listened attentively, the Deputy Public Prosecutor; Mr. Bernard Chunga, asked the court to remand him for 14 days to await the AG’s consent to prosecute. The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Omondi Tunya, remanded him until April 11 when-the case will be mentioned.
