November 27, 1987: The University of Nairobi Council expels 43 students, including the six students leaders arrested two weeks ago for their involvement in the events that led to the closure of the university. The University was closed on November 16 following two days of clashes between students and the police in which 40 students were arrested and several others were injured. The chairman of the council, Mr. Lawrence Sagini said 30 students had only been expelled from the halls of residence but can pursue their studies when the university reopens next Saturday. Every students being readmitted must however pay Ksh75 fine, said Mr. Sagini. Here are the fives students leaders bonded to keep peace for 12 months(from Left)Mr. Munameza Muleji, Mr. Samuel Kaberere, Mr. Joshua Miguna Miguna, Mr. Munoru John Nderi, and Mr. Jacob Oyuo Ngala in Nairobi Court.
