History 150224

February 15, 2000: Fifa, the world soccer body outlaws the Kenya Football Federation elections scheduled for Saturday by the Government. A fax nullifying the polls was sent to the Kenya National Sports Council by Fifa’s Geneva-based secretary General, Mr. Michel Zen. It warned the local sports authority against holding the elections announced last week by Minister Noah Katana Ngala before Fifa or Confederation of African Football representatives, who are due in the country to hold discussions with the KFF and the council. Mr. Ngala last week suspended the KFF leadership headed by Mr. Sam Nyamweya until a new team is picked. But executive officer of the Kenya National Sports Council Mr. Wilberfoce Chebet, told the Nation that the elections would take place at Nyayo Stadium as scheduled.
