November 8, 1993: Two former Assistant Ministers and the Nakuru district FORD- Asili youth leader are arrested. This brings to 12 the number of people who have been arrested in the crackdown following raids at the armoury of a chiefs camp and a police post in Central and Rift Valley provinces a fortnight ago. However, Police Commissioner Shedrack Kiruki said that the arrests had nothing to do with the robberies. Those arrested were Mr. George Mwicigi, Mr. Ngengi Muigai and the youth leader, Mr. Zachariah Kamau. Those picked up over the weekend include former Kenya Air Force chief, Major General Peter Mwagiru Kariuki, a former Kenya Army Colonel Zachariah Thirimu, the former Nakuru North MP, Mr. Koigi wa Wamwere, his brother Paul Njoroge, his cousin Geoffrey Kamau Kuria.
