April 13, 1991: Prominent clergymen and politicians thanks the government for releasing Mr. Charles Wanyoike Rubia and appeals for the freedom of the two remaining detainees, Mr. Kenneth Stanely Njindo Matiba (centre) and Mr. Raila Amollo Odinga (right). In making this call, Bishop John Mahiani of the Diocese of Mt Kenya Central of the Church of the Province of Kenya, said the people in the diocese thanked President Moi for Releasing Mr. Rubia as he had promised when he addressed a public rally in Murang’a. He affirmed that the entire diocese of Mount Kenya Central will continue to pray for the release of the two.Fiery former Cherangany MP. Masinde Muliro said it would pay dividends and improve the country’s international image to release the other two.
